Due to my work I am visiting a couple of different conferences and events each year. Here are my evaluations for the best of them:
Event | Description | Rating* |
QCon | Excellent conference on Software Engineering taking place in different continents.. | +++++ |
OOP | This conference is organized by SIGS-DATACOM. It is a commercial event, but nonetheless offers high quality. Many talks and tutorials. Each year around february a lot of attendees come to this conference on object-oriented programming in Munich. | ++++ |
SPLASH formerly OOSPLA |
Software engineering conferenceg, organized by ACM. Definitely a must for all developers. Partially academic (papers, posters, workshops), partially commercial (tutorials). You can meet the most important persons in the field there. Takes place every autumn in North America. It lost some of its relevance in the last view years | ++++ |
GOTO | Although organized by a commercial company the JAOO conference is more like a non-commercial event. It offers a great program and superb speakers. | ++++ |
SATURN | Software architecture conference usually in the US East Coast. Excellent event for pragrmatic architects but also for research addicted. Small but beautiful! | +++++ |
ECOOP | Could be called the European OOPSLA, but is much more academic than OOPSLA. 500+ attendees every year. Takes place in Europe around July. High quality. | +++ |
*: +++++ = excellent, ++++ = very good, +++ = good, ++ = average, + = poor
